Make Your Own Websites
This pages has links to websites where you can make your own gif headers, buttons, windows, banners, etc. None of these sites are a substitute for learning ImageReady or Photoshop, but they are quick and at least for the Gif Headers, easy and often offer a wide range of fonts to choose from.

If you find other useful make your own sites, please e-mail me (kalmbach@ilstu.edu).

Gif Headers

  • Cool Archive Logo generator Easy to use site. Displays font samples, nice effects. The name says it all. Has a limited customization page. Saves text as jpegs. My new favorite.
  • 3dtextmaker Easy to use site. Great selection of fonts. Can control color and size, but turn off the animated effects. Large selection of fonts.
  • Flamingtext A seemingless endless variety of headlines styles and ways to tweak those styles. Great selection of fonts. You can edit your header after you have created it.
  • Banner Creator Interesting set of backgrounds. Can have two lines of text.

Graphics

  • Gifworks You use this program to modify gifs you have created in other programs or have downloaded from free sites. You can crop, rotate, set transparency. Then, when you are done, you can optimize though not as elegantly as the Adobe site. Here again, for casual users, you have to wonder how much a graphics program is really needed.

Buttons

  • flamingtext An amazing site. A seemingly endless variety of buttons to which you can add your own text. Don't miss this one.
  • CoolArchive button maker Of limited value but can create some very cool buttons.
  • AAA Buttons Not the easiest to use site, but if you keep at it, there are some very cool buttons which depend on flamingtext.com for their functionality.
