English Studies Association
All English majors and minors, as well as other students interested in English, are eligible to join the English Studies Association. The association gives students a chance to get together with others interested in English Studies. The
regular monthly meetings concern both academic and professional topics. Faculty members frequently present special discussions of their research or their research projects. Faculty members who have gone on professional trips relating to
research interests often show slides or pictures taken on these adventures.
At least one meeting a year concerns career opportunities. In March or April, representatives from local firms and Illinois State University Career Services offer a presentation on careers for English majors. Meanwhile, ESA members can keep
abreast of various career opportunities, professional conferences and cultural events through the English Studies Association Newsletter, The Spectator. The Spectator comes out at least once a semester. Faculty, and department chairperson, may
contribute items of interest to students.
Officers are elected at the beginning of the fall semester and include President, Vice President, and Secretary. The officers set the topics for meetings and arrange fall welcome of freshmen, career night, and other special occasions. If you
are interested in becoming involved with the English Studies Association, please contact your advisor or the English Department. Visit the ESA Web Site |
