Sigma Tau Delta

The Lambda Delta Chapter of the English honors society Sigma Tau Delta was formed in 1936 and was reactivated in the early 1990s. In 1999 the Lambda Delta chapter was named the only superior chapter in the country. The Society is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. It sponsors both service projects and social events and has an annual scholarship. Its activities include: various literacy projects ranging from book-collecting to fund raising for STAR Literacy, attending regional and national conferences, poetry reading (Dead Poets' Night and Live Poets' Night), running a book store, and potlucks. Please contact the Department advisor for more details.

In order to be eligible to join Sigma Tau Delta, you must be a junior, senior, or graduate student, must have completed at least 15 hours of English, must have an ISU GPA of 3.3 both in the major and cumulatively, must submit one sample of your own writing, and must have a recommendation from a faculty member.
