Graduate Areas of
Study: TESOL
The Master's in English allows students to concentrate in any one of a number of specializations areas, including TESOL. Students who wish to write a Master's thesis are encouraged to do so. Thesis hours count as four hours of course work.
The following courses are available on the graduate level:
- English 341 Introduction to Descriptive Linguistics
- English 343 Cross Cultural Aspects in TESOL
- English 344 TESOL: THeoretical Foundations
- English 345 TESOL: Methods and Material
- English 346 Assessment for Testing ESL
- English 394 TESOL Practicum
Degree requirements for the Master's in English (emphasis in TESOL)
- English 401 Introduction to Graduate Study
- English 402 Introduction to the Composing Process (required for students teaching composition)
- English 341 Introduction to Descriptive Linguistics
- One Literature Course
- One Course emphasizing pedagogy
- 4 TESOL courses
- At least two elective courses
