The Master's in English allows students to concentrate in any one of a number of specializations areas, including English Studies. Students who wish to write a Master's thesis are encouraged to do so. Thesis hours count as four hours of course work.

Degree Requirements for the Master's in English (emphasis in English Studies)

English 401 Introduction to Graduate Studies
English 402 Introduction to the Composing Process (required for students teaching composition)
One Literature course
One Linguistics or TESOL course
One course emphasizing pedagogy
Six or Seven courses, distributed in at least two areas of English Studies (literature, composiiton studies, linguistic, etc.)
