The Master's in English allows students to concentrate in any one of a number of specializations areas, including Literature.  Students who wish to write a Master's thesis are encouraged to do so.  Thesis hours count as four hours of course work. 

Degree requirements for the Master's in English (emphasis in Literature):

  • English 401 Introduction to Graduate Studies
  • English 402 Introduction to the Composing Process (required for students teaching composition)
  • Three courses in Literature before 1800
  • Three courses in Literature after 1800
  • Four elective courses
