English Studies
The Master's in English allows students to concentrate in any one of a number
of specializations areas, including English Studies. Students who wish to write a Master's thesis are encouraged to do so. Thesis
hours count as four hours of course work.
Degree Requirements for the Master's in English (emphasis in English Studies)
- English 401 Introduction to Graduate Studies
- English 402 Introduction to the Composing Process (required for students teaching composition)
- One Literary and Cultural Studies course
- One Linguistics or TESOL course
- One course emphasizing pedagogy
- Six or Seven courses, distributed in at least two areas of English Studies (Literary and Cultural Studies, composiiton studies, linguistic, etc.)
