There are two master's programs in English at Illinois State, one in English, the other in Writing. Our department strongly supports an English studies model, in which all students take courses in a variety of areas, including rhetoric, literature, linguistics, writing, pedagogy, and so on. However, we ask students when applying to identify the advising sequence that interest them.
