This web page provides access to resources for IDS 121: Texts and Contexts, taught by Professor Ron Strickland, at Illinois State University. In the fall semester of 2007, this course will focus on African American literature in the context of African-American social experience in Chicago. Since this section of IDS 121 is designated for a cohort of students who are training to be teachers, the course will be include a focus on Illinois State University's role in the history of anti-racist struggle and the struggle for inclusion of African-Americans in public education in Illinois.
