English 250: Texts required

The primary text for this course is The Bible as Literature, edited by Joseph Gabel, et al, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2006. Students will also need to buy Elaine Scarry's book The Body in Pain, and any edition of Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice (I have ordered the Bedford-St. Martin's edition). All students should also have a copy of The Holy Bible, Authorized (King James) version, in any edition. Other readings will be assigned from reserve texts that students will not need to buy.
