The Undergraduate Program in English Department at Illinois State University is a vital and exciting one. It is designed along the English Studies model, which means students can concentrate on various aspects of English Studies, including language, literature, composition, and rhetoric. The program educates students to:
Students can choose to major or minor in English. Majors can follow three sequences: English, English Education, Publishing. Minors can be completed in English, English Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Writing. To declare English as your major or minor, please complete and return the application form. In addition, The Department of English participates in four campus wide Interdisciplinary Minors: Comparative Literature, African-American Studies, Children's Studies, Women's Studies.
