Debate:
General description:
You will be using research, debate, dialectic thinking and team work
to develop your ability to gather information, present argumentation,
organize in-depth critical inquiry and collaborative writing.
Steps:
- We will have a class brainstorming session to generate controversial
topics.
- You will chose groups and a topic that you are interested in.
- Your group will then split again into two groups, with one half
arguing pro and the other con of the topic you have chosen.
- You will all do independent research to support your view.
During the next class period we will hold a debate. As a group you
will collaboratively write a critical inquiry paper that addresses
the research and debate you participated in. You will also work with
group members to do revision and an analytical paper.
