Fables & Fairytales:

  • Break into groups of 3-4
  • You will each receive a different fable or fairytale to read together
  • To help make sense of what you have read you will be drawing or sketching a representation of the fable or fairytale
  • When you have finished your group will present and explain your model to the class

You will be retelling your fable or fairytale through both a drawn model and an orally presented dialogue. After completing the activity, you will individually write reflections on how these different modes of thinking and learning can be applied to writing. Please answer the following questions:

1) How did the group's drawings or sketches help you to understand the texts? Comment on each groups presentation, including your own.

2) Besides writing, what other activities might help you to understand or make sense of a text that you have read? Reflect on why and how you think they might be helpful.
